The One About Feminism
I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat, or a prostitute. --Rebecca West
Feminism encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians. --(Rev. Pat Robertson, 1992 Republican Convention)
"I believe that women have a capacity for understanding and compassion which a man structurally does not have, does not have it because he cannot have it. He's just incapable of it." -- Former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan
"I feel that 'man-hating' is an honorable and viable political act, that the oppressed have a right to class-hatred against the class that is oppressing them." -- Robin Morgan, MS. Magazine Editor
"Men are the enemies of women. Promising sublime intimacy, unequalled passion, amazing security and grace, they nevertheless exploit and injure in a myriad subtle ways. Without men the world would be a better place: softer, kinder, more loving; calmer, quieter, more humane." --Ann Oakley (b. 1944), British sociologist, author. Taking It Like a Woman, "A French Letter" (1984).
I think it's about time we voted for senators with breasts. After all, we've been voting for boobs long enough. --Clarie Sargent, Arizona senatorial candidate
I found a quote once... it said,"A prostitute may sell her body to a man... but a wife sells her life and recieves nothing for it."
I never realized that I was selling my life until now. Sean and I were eating, and he was talking about when he gets out of the Air Force we'd move to St.Louis.
I don't really want to move there... but since he has a job there already, I guess, as a wife it's my duty and obligation to follow my man wherever he chooses to go. But what about me...?
Does this mean I'm not feminist any more? :(
